In honor of Parent's "Best of" issue, I typically offer a random compilation of personal favorites. Here goes for 2013.

Best kids menu: 101 Beer Kitchen (Dublin). Owners Thad and Jessica Kittrell have three young children, and it's obvious. I could genuinely be happy - and satisfied (hey - dessert's included!) - ordering off the kid's menu myself. Best place to score your husband a tie: T.J. Maxx at Polaris. Nice brands, even nicer prices. Best date night: Gallery Hop (Short North). Best way to spend a Sunday: Downtown at Columbus Museum of Art (free admission on Sundays!) and the historic North Market. Best reason to live in Powell: The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and Zoombezi Bay. We use our passes so often I almost feel guilty. Best place for a $20-or-under girlfriend gift: SoBo Style (Clintonville). The Anne Taintor goodies are fantastically funny. Best place for a $5-or-under girlfriend gift: Glean (Short North), where you can cut a chunk of organic, handmade soap. Best family entertainment: Columbus Commons (Downtown) summer concerts. Taking the kids? Go when the Ohio State marching band plays. Best place to run/walk/wander: Highbanks. I am in constant awe of our Metro Parks. Best reason to schedule a meeting over breakfast: Northstar (Clintonville, Short North or Easton). The freshly squeezed OJ and sausage-and-egg biscuit are well worth the (financial and caloric) splurge. Best lunch: Harvest Pizzeria (German Village), where you can order a salad (try the Caesar) and pizza (the Spicy Yuma changed my life) for $9. Best place to get your sweat on: V Power Yoga (Downtown). Best party favor: Custom sugar cookies from Sweet Tooth Cottage (Powell). Think football jerseys with each boy's last name and number on the back. They are so pretty you won't want to eat them. (But then you will. And you will want more.) Best indulgent one-hour getaway: Pedi and a glass of wine at Woodhouse Day Spa (Dublin). Best cheap one-hour getaway: Glass of wine, a magazine and my tub. Best Christmas gift idea: Broadway in Columbus season tickets.
