The Columbus Museum of Art knows how to make moms feel special on Mother's Day.

The art museum - with the help of Sidecar Global Catering - is hosting a Mother's Day Brunch where moms can enjoy a delicious meal in a beautiful setting.

But knowing that many families love to spoil mom at home, Columbus Parent also enlisted the help of the Columbus catering company. Owner Scott Heimlich agreed to share an easy-to-prepare recipe that kids-with a little help from a grown-up-can prepare.

Heimlich's go-to for a family-friendly brunch entrée: French toast.

"It's an American classic," he said. "I don't know anybody who doesn't like French toast."

Preparing the dish involves several steps that kids will enjoy, said Heimlich, who also owns Barcelona, a restaurant in German Village. He encouraged parents to allow their kid helpers to break the eggs, measure the ingredients and do some "controlled whisking" of the batter.

He also recommends doing all you can to make mom feel special: "Three hundred and sixty-four days out of the year, mom's taking care of you. Give her at least one day."
