Lincoln Elementary (Gahanna)
"Growing your brain" is a catch phrase often heard in Abbey Murry's classroom. She petitioned the PTO to buy exercise balls for her students and now conducts class to twenty bouncing first graders. She wants her students to support one another, so the kids drop messages in a compliment box to each other that is read aloud daily. They also compile a book of good qualities about one student each week and share. Abbey never yells. Instead she sings a few bars to the students and they all respond. She partners with another teacher so her students have "Fourth Grade Buddies", allowing the students to learn from one another. She also hosts writing celebrations, during which the students share their writing and use technology to present to their classmates and parents.
