Catch Cirque du Soleil, children's theater, jazz concerts and Harry Potter on the big screen.

PHENOMENAL FELINE
No cat is hipper than Pete, let me just tell you. But Pete out-hips even himself as he makes the switch from best-selling book series to stage musical, during which he wins over everyone in the family, even Jimmy, the uptight second-grader. Columbus Children’s Theatre presents “Pete The Cat” Jan. 17 through Feb. 3. (Note: Since the story originally was published, CCT extended the run through Feb. 10.) Tickets start at $14.

CIRQUE ON ICE
You and your crew like Cirque du Soleil’s amazing acrobats and aerial artistry. And you also like ice shows with their precision and athletic beauty. So, while “Crystal” might not be exactly Cirque on ice, it does combine the things you love about both while telling the story of the titular character as she dives into a magical world of her own imagination. Cirque du Soleil’s “Crystal” plays Nationwide Arena for seven shows Jan. 23-27. Tickets start at $42.

PBJ & JAZZ
Looking for an arts experience designed for kids that’s not watered down? The Jazz Arts Group’s PBJ & Jazz series is totally jazz but also totally accessible for young audience members. The series’ Jan. 12 offering features the Anthony Stanco Ensemble at the Lincoln Theatre ballroom. Stanco is a dynamic, young trumpeter, teacher and bandleader based in Columbus. His band boasts some of the top talent in the Midwest. Tickets are $5, which includes a snack for kids, with a family maximum of $20.

“SUNSHINE” THIS WINTER
You know Austrian author Ludwig Bemelmans, even if you don’t know you do. He’s best-known for the beloved Madeline books, but Bemelmans authored a slew of other titles as well, including “Sunshine,” the story of a stuffy landlord who rents an apartment to a quiet, sedate woman who, the landlord later discovers, runs a busy (and, of course, noisy) music school. Mr. Sunshine (the landlord) has his outlook forever changed by the turn of events. CATCO is Kids presents the stage adaptation of the book Jan. 11-20. Tickets are $15.

LIVE POTTER
It’s hard to make the Harry Potter movies much more enjoyable, but the Columbus Symphony Orchestra does just that during its semi-regular presentations that combine the films with live music. CSO musicians will perform John Williams’ score to “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azbakan,” the third film in the franchise, live onstage as the movie is shown at the Ohio Theatre. Saturday and Sunday matinees are scheduled Jan. 19-20, with a Jan. 19 evening show as well. Tickets start at $50.
