Editor’s note: Because of the coronavirus pandemic, many camp organizers are either moving their 2020 summer camps to online offerings or canceling their programs for this year. The state of Ohio declared May 14 that day camps would be allowed to operate under specific guidelines as of May 31, so some camps are still taking place in person, though with special precautions. This list, part of our 2020 Columbus Parent Summer Camp Guide, was accurate at the time our Spring issue came out in early March, but many camp plans have changed since, so be sure to contact the organizer of any camp you have already enrolled in or are hoping to sign up for to confirm whether it is still taking place.

Forest Park Christian School: Summer Day Camp
Ages served: 5-11
Dates/times: 6/1-8/14; full day (6+ hours)
Description: Summer Day Camp is for those who’ve completed any grade K-5, with activities including swimming twice a week and one additional field trip per week.
Cost: $135 to $176 per week

JCC of Greater Columbus: Camp Chaverim
Ages served: 5-9

Description: Camp Chaverim is a three- or five-day camp for children entering grades K-3 who want to experience a little bit of everything. Activities include crafts, sports, science, songs, swimming, Judaics and more. Campers can develop and strengthen long-lasting friendships.

Description: Camp Hoover is a three- or five-day outdoor camping experience. Campers choose from ropes, boating, archery, climbing wall, zip line, sports, fishing, art, music, cooking, biking, hiking, gaga, water sports, frog hunting, card games, song writing and more.

JCC of Greater Columbus: Camp Ora
Ages served: 3-5

Description: Camp Ora is a three- or five-day camp for children ages 3-5. It offers an array of daily activities with lots of singing, nature, music, Israeli culture, sports, science, arts and crafts, Judaics, a daily Kosher snack and swim lessons taught by certified water safety instructors.

Description: Camp Yeladim is a summer preschool program designed to enhance each child’s independence, self-confidence and social development, and is a stepping stone into the world of preschool and summer camp. Campers will have a wide variety of activities during the morning including art, music, nature, Israeli culture, nature and swimming.

Description: Kayitz Kef offers campers an opportunity to play, laugh, sing, swim, run and create in a close-knit family of campers and counselors. Campers come home each day proud of their new language skills, along with new friendships, camp memories and a love of Hebrew.
