To-go cocktails are now a thing. The Ohio Liquor Control Commission passed an emergency rule Tuesday allowing restaurants with a liquor license to sell and deliver alcoholic drinks for consumption off-premises. Customers may purchase two pre-packaged drinks per meal, and drinks cannot contain more than two ounces of liquor per container (alas). Condado Tacos has already seized the opportunity and is offering to-go margaritas.

The Short North’s modern Indian restaurant, Rooh, is reopening for contactless carryout service beginning Friday, April 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. The restaurant is at 685 N. High St. Carryout cocktails will also be available.

Schmidt’s (240 E. Kossuth St.) has reopened in German Village for takeout German fare. Call 614-444-6808 to order. For delivery, you can find Schmidt’s on DoorDash, Grubhub or Uber Eats.

Echo Spirits Distilling Co. is now offering bottles of sanitizer from its bottle shop in Grandview (985 W. Sixth Ave.). Limit three per purchase. Meanwhile, Watershed Distillery (1145 Chesapeake Ave., Ste. D) has paused its sale of sanitizer to the public. Its bottle shop remains open for sales of bottles and cocktail kits.

Jorgensen Farms is offering a selection of organic produce as well as ready-to-eat meals for delivery to Westerville and New Albany. Order here.

This week, Kroger announced its grocery stores will begin reducing customer capacity limits to further encourage physical distancing in stores. The retailer will limit the number of customers to 50 percent of the building code’s calculated capacity. Giant Eagle is following suit. Read more at

Restaurant Relief Efforts

The Ohio Restaurant Association Education Foundation has formed the Ohio Restaurant Employee Relief Fund to activate emergency funding for food service industry workers who have been affected by COVID-19. Any Ohio employee in the restaurant, food service or hospitality industry who has been laid off during the coronavirus crisis is eligible to apply for a grant from the relief fund. Grant funds can be applied to housing expenses (mortgage or rent), living expenses (transportation and groceries) and medical expenses. Learn more here.

Temporary Closures

Bake Me Happy (106 E. Moler St.) announced this week that it will temporarily close its doors for two weeks starting Sunday, April 12. The gluten-free bakery and café in Merion Village plans to reopen on Tuesday, April 28.
