Chapman’s Eat Market, the highly anticipated restaurant from chef BJ Lieberman, opens Friday, Aug. 14, for carryout and delivery. Located at 739 S. Third St. in German Village, the site of the original Max & Erma’s, Chapman’s boasts a diverse menu that includes gazpacho, red bean onigiri, a house burger, karaage chicken sandwich, fresh chitarra pasta and homemade pints of ice cream as well as to-go cocktails, wine bottles and beer. Running Chapman’s beverage program is veteran bartender Seth Laufman, the former owner of Blind Lady Tavern and a past Columbus Monthly Tastemaker. Lieberman earned a Michelin star while serving as head chef at Rose’s Luxury in Washington D.C., and relocated to Columbus last fall with his wife, Bronwyn. Chapman’s will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for takeout and delivery only (for now), with ordering available via phone, the restaurant’s website or ChowNow. The owners of Meshikou Ramen (1506 Bethel Road) are planning to open Meshikou Chikin right next door at 1504 Bethel Rd. The new spot, expected to open in a few months, will specialize in various styles of Asian fried chicken, from KFC (Korean fried chicken) to Japanese karaage.

Owner and baker Rebekah Hatzifotinos is launching a buttermilk biscuit bakery called Basic Biscuits, Kindness, Coffee in Grandview. The shop at 1160 Goodale Blvd. will offer a menu of scratch-made biscuits, breakfast sandwich sliders, sausage gravy and quiche with a biscuit crust. Basic Biscuits will also partner with local coffee roasters and source sausage from The Butcher & Grocer. Hatzifotinos is planning to open by the end of August.

The locally grown chain Bibibop opened its 13th Central Ohio location this week at 1726 Stringtown Road in Grove City. The fast-casual restaurant specializes in build-your-own bowls inspired by the Korean dish bibimbap.

Clintonville’s Lineage Brewing has released its first batch of canned beer, starting with Walhalla at Me, a Hazy Pale Ale in 16-ounce 4-packs. The new line of beer is available for online ordering and carryout from the Lineage brewpub at 2971 N. High St. The brewery will release more beer styles in cans later this month, including: Spaceship #6 IPA and Wake Life American Blonde Ale. “Our customers have been asking for this since we first opened, so we are excited to offer another option for them to enjoy Lineage brews. Pursuing canning has been a goal for Lineage, but the COVID situation pushed our plans to be a top priority,” said co-owner Mike Byrne in a press release. Lineage Brewing, Clintonville’s first brewery, opened in 2015.

The Mexican street food vendor Taquero Street Kitchen resumed operation this week at Columbus Commons, 30 E. Rich St. In addition, food trucks are continuing to serve lunch at the Commons on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A new wine bar called DeVine Tastings & Dining is expected to fill the Short North storefront vacated by Tastings—A Wine Experience at 958 N. High St.
