Big news for Jackie O’s fans: The popular Athens brewery is expanding to Columbus, taking over the 5,800-square-foot Elevator Brewing Co. facility at 165 N. Fourth St. in Downtown Columbus. A grand opening is planned for next year. The brewery will also open a carryout facility next door at 171 N. Fourth St., with service set to begin within the next few months. “This is something we’ve been dreaming about for years,” Jackie O’s owner Art Oestrike said in a press release. “We are excited it’s finally becoming a reality and can’t wait to bring Jackie O’s to our supportive customers in the Columbus community.”

In more craft beer news, Cleveland-based Saucy Brew Works will celebrate the grand opening of its first Columbus brewpub on Friday, October 23. The new Harrison West gathering spot at 443 W. Third Ave. features a small brewing operation, a coffeehouse called Saucy Coffee, and a full restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

Longtime friends and chefs James Anderson and Bill Glover are teaming up. Anderson, the founder of Ray Ray’s Hog Pit and Granville-based Anderson Farms, announced this week that chef Bill Glover (most recently executive chef at Hilton Columbus Downtown), will join the celebrated Central Ohio barbecue truck operation as CEO. In addition, Ray Ray’s fans can look forward to a new brick-and-mortar restaurant, coming early next year to 1256 Columbus Road in Granville. “I’ve always wanted to open a meat and three joint [a Southern-style restaurant serving plates with a meat and three vegetables], and this new site [allows] us to do that,” Anderson said in a press release. “We want to respect the traditional fundamentals of a classic meat-and-three, but we’ll do it our way, with hometown barbecue and Bill using his genius to help build a menu of incredible sides that complement the BBQ.” Glover and Anderson were part of the same Columbus Monthly Tastemakers class in 2016, and earlier this year Anderson was named a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Great Lakes.

A new coffee bar called The Parable Coffee will begin popping up at Comune (677 Parsons Ave.) this weekend. A menu of carefully curated coffees, espresso drinks and more will be available for carryout or patio seating from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

The grand opening of Winston’s Coffee & Waffles is imminent at 3589 Indianola Ave., across from Weiland’s Market. Steve Elshoff’s new food trailer officially debuts Tuesday, Oct. 13, featuring a menu of malted waffles and syrup, stuffed waffles, coffee and espresso drinks. Follow @winstonscoffeeandwaffles.

Columbus Food Adventures has a new trick up its sleeve as it weathers the pandemic. The local tour operator is now offering four curated gift boxes stuffed with local goods, available for shipping across the U.S. The Brunch Box, for example, includes Bloody Mary mix from North Market Spices, coffee beans from Thunderkiss, granola from Pattycake Bakery, Liège Pearl Sugar Belgian Waffles and more. The Taste of Bexley: At Home Edition will take place from Oct. 12 to Oct. 18. This carryout-only event will showcase a variety of food vendors as well as spirits from Seventh Son Brewing Co., 2 Tones Brewing and Grain & Grape.
