Donated toys help hospitalized children.

Central Ohioans can spread some cheer to patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital by donating to its annual toy drive.

The collection will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9 in the parking lot of the hospital’s Downtown Urgent Care, 740 Children’s Drive. Items also can be donated from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays, until noon Dec. 22.

All donations must be new and unwrapped. The hospital suggests items such as:

Plastic infant and toddler toys, especially ones that are musical and/or light up  Teethers and rattles Musical soothers (plastic, without cloth parts) Small to medium-size Lego sets UNO card games Little Tikes and Fisher-Price toys DVDs (no R-rated movies) Art supplies (24-packs of crayons, markers, colored pencils, scissors), coloring books, craft kits Play-Doh and Play-Doh kits  Amazon gift cards
