Easton attraction also names Master Model Builder
May 6 was a big day for Legoland Discovery Center Columbus, and for local Lego fans who learned when they can visit the Easton attraction.
Maxx Davidson of Ashland was named Master Model Builder after winning a two-day Brick Factor contest May 5-6. Spectators watched in the Easton Station Building as more than 70 contestants competed to win the job, which involves building with Legos, teaching classes and interacting with guests at Legoland Discovery Center Columbus. Davidson was one of 10 finalists who advanced to the second day of competition. Zachary Thomas of Dublin took second place, and Andrew Prentice of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, placed third.
The more exciting news for Central Ohio kids, however, is probably the date when they’ll be able to play at Legoland Discovery Center. The grand opening will take place Sept. 21.
When it opens, Legoland Discovery Center Columbus visitors can explore 10 play areas, two interactive rides, Master Model Builder classes, a vehicle test track, 4D cinema, party room, café and a Miniland Ohio, which will feature landmarks from Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland. Miniland is a signature area found in all Legolands that features scaled-down versions of local and/or national icons.
The $10 million, two-story, 36,000-square-foot play center, which is geared for ages 3-10, takes over the space formerly occupied by KDB and GameWorks. Legoland Discovery Center Columbus, which will be owned and operated by Merlin Entertainments, is among 12 open or in development in North America and 22 worldwide.
