Downtown park offers free children's activities
Summer is already heating up at John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons, where the lineup of seasonal programming gets underway this weekend.
Family Fun Day, on tap 4-8 p.m. May 26, is a free event with a variety of children’s activities. Kids can make crafts, get their faces painted, ride the carousel, play putt-putt, get a balloon and visit a planting station. The Columbus Blue Jackets, Columbus Crew SC, COTA, Ohio State Athletics and other exhibitors also will offer games and activities. Most are free; a $5 wristband is required for the inflatables.
Attendees also can catch a free movie. “The Greatest Showman” will be screened at 8:15 p.m. (The movie is rated PG and has a run time of 106 minutes.)
Guests can bring lawn chairs and blankets to both May 26 events. Coolers are not permitted.
The weekend wraps up at 6 p.m. May 27, when Shadowbox Live takes the stage for a free Pink Floyd tribute concert, “Which One’s Pink?” The first half of the show pays homage to the iconic band, while the latter part intertwines “Dark Side of the Moon” with imagery from “The Wizard of Oz.”
Columbus Commons is located at 160 S. High St. in Downtown Columbus. For more information, go to columbuscommons.org/events/memorial-day-weekend.
