Fifth Quarter returns to Smithville
SMITHVILLE — Fifth Quarter is back for all youth, grades 6-12 at Smithville United Methodist Church, 243 N. Milton St. Fifth Quarter will be held immediately following the Smithville High School football game, Friday, Sept. 14 from 10-11:45 p.m. It will be Outdoor Movie Night, showing "Greater." St. Michaels to have a Homecoming Sunday
MARSHALLVILLE — On Sept. 16, St. Michaels Church of Christ located on Euclid Street in Marshallville will have a Homecoming Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All are invited to attend and take historical photos to share. Former members and people in the community are welcome.

Community vegan meal is Sept. 20
WOOSTER — There will be a Community Vegan Meal at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 353 E. Pine St., on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. in Mackey Hall. Students and community members are invited to gather for food, conversation, fellowship and relationship-building over a family-style vegan meal. All are welcome; a $5 suggested donation to support this event or take a vegan dessert to share.
Register for Dog Obedience Course
SMITHVILLE — Allan Bauman, the author of "Paw-sitive" Dog Training, will be teaching a Dog Obedience Course at Smithville United Methodist Church, 243 N. Milton St. on Thursdays, Sept. 20 and 27 and Oct. 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Cost is $85 and includes Bauman’s book, a $175 value. All proceeds go to the SUMC for Community Outreach Programs.
Class registration is limited to 14 dogs. All family members are encouraged to participate. Once registration limits are reached there will be an opportunity for non-participating members to attend without dogs only for just $10. ORRVILLE — "Shadows of the Old, Brightness of the New" is the title of the 13th annual Singspiration, to be Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. at Orrville Grace Brethren Church, featuring singers Kyle and Laura Laramore.

Speaker to address media-saturated culture
ORRVILLE — Joe Schillero from Gateway to the Heart Ministries, will speak on "Guarding Our Hearts in a Media-Saturated Culture" at Orrville Grace Brethren Church, 2200 Paradise Road, on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 9:30 and 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. He will be emphasizing the need to guard what we allow into the "eye gate" and the "ear gate." He will talk about the philosophies that are being conveyed i much of today’s music, TV, movies and video games. He will give specific examples from popular entertainment in his Powerpoint presentation. His main emphasis in all of his teaching is the timless Word of God.
