Six local attractions will participate in 'Smithsonian' Museum Day.

Looking for something to do on Saturday? Visitors can get free admission to six Central Ohio attractions as part of Smithsonian magazine’s 15th annual Museum Day.

The Sept. 21 event, which includes more than 1,500 venues across the country, is designed to get more visitors—including schoolchildren and disadvantaged communities—into these educational institutions. It is based on the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C., venues, where admission is always free. The theme of this year’s event is “Smithsonian Year of Music.”

Fifty-three Ohio venues are participating in the 2019 event, including these Central Ohio attractions: Columbus Museum of Art, National Barber Museum, Ohio Glass Museum, Ohio History Center, Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art and The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology.

Visitors must go online to download a special Museum Day ticket to present at their chosen venue. Each ticket is good for free general admission for two people to one of the participating locations. There is a limit of one ticket per email address.

Get more information and print a ticket at smithsonianmag.com/museumday.
