An exhibit at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio highlights the lives and families of these commanders in chief.

If you’re already growing weary of political signs and negative ads, consider focusing on elections that have already occurred. Learn a bit about Ohio’s rich presidential past with a visit to the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio.

The center’s latest exhibit, “The Ohio Presidents: Surprising Legacies,” reveals many interesting facts about the eight presidents who hailed from the Buckeye State. Visitors will learn who was the first president to die in office, who helped establish Ohio State University and much more. In addition to sharing interesting facts about these men, who served between 1841 and 1923, the exhibit features items related to the presidents and their families, including clothing, personal items and furniture.

The exhibit runs through Dec. 29. The Arts Center, 145 E. Main St., Lancaster, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 1-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free. Go to for more information.
