Joey Cooke has been named the Ashland Elks Teen of the Month for November. He is the son of Charles and Tammy Cooke and is a senior at Mapleton High School.

Cooke is a member of the Mapleton baseball team and runs cross country. He is vice president of the National Honor Society and is a member of the Academic Challenge team. He also is a member of the Spanish club and the yearbook staff, as well as a Student Council member and in the Mapleton band.

Cooke has volunteered his time as a student escort for the Ashland County Veterans Washington, D.C. tour. He assisted in planning the Mapleton High School Cares Day and participated in the United Way Day of Caring. He has also volunteered his time at Kingston of Ashland.

He has received Mapleton academic honor awards for the past three years and attended Buckeye Boys State. He is also a member of the Boy Scouts.

After graduation, Cooke will be enlisting in the Air Force, where he plans to train for air traffic control.
