Take a hike for the holidays Dec. 8 at this Hocking Hills site.
Families looking for unique take on Christmas coupled with a hike should check out Christmas in Ash Cave. The annual event, scheduled for Dec. 8, features an old-fashioned Santa Claus, carolers, bonfire and refreshments. Visitors also are invited to decorate a Christmas tree designed to provide food for wildlife.
The lantern-lit walk to the cave through a tree-lined gorge provides gorgeous views of the Hocking Hills’ rolling terrain, whose appearance can be dramatically transformed by snow and ice. The paved trail makes it possible for guests using strollers and wheelchairs to enjoy the event.
Christmas in Ash Cave will take place from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 8. Organizers suggest dressing warmly. For more information, call 740-385-6842 or go to thehockinghills.org/park_event_holiday_in_the_park.htm.
