A free family event celebrates the civil rights leader's birthday.

The Columbus Metropolitan Library will honor Martin Luther King Jr. at a free family event on Saturday at his namesake branch.

“Happy Birthday, Martin!” will celebrate King’s birthday with dance, music, poetry and stories from Is Said and Advance Party. The all-ages program will take place at 1 p.m. Jan. 19 at the library’s new Martin Luther King branch, 1467 E. Long St., Columbus.

Martin Luther King III spoke at the grand opening and dedication of the new branch on Oct. 18. Martin Luther King Sr. had dedicated the original MLK branch, at 1600 E. Long St., in 1969. (Read more at columbusparent.com/news/20181012/martin-luther-king-iii-will-speak-at-new-columbus-library.)
