Two Central Ohio events are scheduled, or your family can plan its own adventure.

Although National Walk in the Park Day falls on a Saturday this year, you may have to organize your own observance come March 30, since few official events are planned in Central Ohio.

Metro Parks has one celebration scheduled: Walkers can meet at 1 p.m. March 30 at the nature center at Blacklick Metro Park, 6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg. The parks district is observing the day with a 2-mile stroll. For details, visit the Metro Parks event calendar.

Those willing to trek to the Hocking Hills on March 30 can participate in a special program, The Wonders of Old Man’s Cave. The event, which begins at 10 a.m. at the naturalist cabin, includes a short hike and some fun facts about the area’s history and the rock formations found throughout the park. Old Man’s Cave is located on State Route 664 South in Logan.

Of course, it’s easy to arrange your own walk—at a park near your home, in one of the areas many Metro Parks or through Preservation Parks of Delaware County. These public parks, located throughout Central Ohio offer a wide array of activities and scenery.
