Although many local events have been canceled, the citywide sidewalk and yard sale will take place Saturday, June 22 around the community.

This is a strictly "set your own hours and rules" kind of event, and shoppers and sellers can wear masks or not and keep as much distance apart as they wish. It is also an opportunity to make some money and get rid of those items cleared out during the lockdown.

The beach at the Reservoir Park is now open during daylight hours seven days a week. Social distancing must be maintained and only one person is allowed in the restroom at a time. The cost of entrance to the park is $2 and no lifeguards are provided.

The Rotary Club is seeking nominations for Citizen of the Year. Submit applications to any Rotarian or to the New London Rotary, PO Box 43, New London OH 44851 by June 22.

The Alliance Church is receiving funds from the Emergency Food Shelter Program through Homeland Security. Applications for assistance are available at the church office at 4625 State Route 162 West from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

Church member Buddy Workman said the funds can provide assistance for rent, mortgage, food and utilities on a one-time annual basis. Residents of the New London, Greenwich, North Fairfield and Wakeman communities are eligible to apply.

A Red Cross Blood Drive is taking place from 12:30 to 6 p.m., today, June 11 at the Eagles at 29 W. Fir St.
