Yellow Brick Pizza just announced that it would be closing its 892 Oak St. location in Olde Towne East, effective immediately.

The closure clears the path for the pizzeria to open a new branch down the road in the East Market of the Trolley District, which is located at the intersections of Oak Street and Kelton Avenue in Fran. The East Market, which is currently under construction, is set to open no later than this fall.

‘It was a difficult call to make, but it became clear it made the most sense as we moved closer and closer to opening at (East Market),” co-owner Faith Pierce said in a press release of the decision to close the original Yellow Brick location, which had been in operation for 11 years. (The pizza shop still has a branch in Franklinton, as well as spinoff Pie of the Tiger, currently serving out of the kitchen of the Short North Tavern.) "We feel like it’ll be a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and we can’t wait to welcome people into our new space."

According to the Dispatch, the Trolley District is set to house about two-dozen food, bar and retail tenants in five buildings. Yellow Brick joins previously announced East Market food hall tenants that include: Butcher & Grocer, which will lease five of the market's 23 stalls; Creole to Geaux restaurant; Fourteen Twenty Nine bakery; and vendors serving tacos, pizza, breakfast and Mediterranean dishes.
