Need a good excuse to take your kids to the candy shop? Colonial Candy in Clintonville reopened in January with new owners - John and Stacey Durst take over for Melissa Goodrich, who ran the store for over three decades. For 50 years the shop, located at 3519 N. High St., has been a neighborhood destination for old-fashioned candy, novelty sweets and a Columbus source for Heggy's fine chocolates and candies out of Canton. New owners promise to continue the shop's commitment to delicious candy and excellent customer service.

Time to give the fam a crash course in what life was like during the '80s. Oldskool, the new restaurant in what used to be Giorgio's in Clintonville, is a celebration of '80s nostalgia, with retro television sets and a Madonna-heavy soundtrack. It's the latest concept from the folks behind the Local Cantina franchise, with a menu that sticks to straightforward, homestyle favorites like hot dogs, sloppy joes and smoked wings.

BYOB at Studio 35 is for those beer-loving parents who may find themselves missing happy hour - and wishing it was socially acceptable to bring your baby to the bar. The independent movie theater and bar hosts monthly Bring Your Own Baby to the Bar gatherings with drink specials, prizes and virgin cocktails for the kids. As the organizers explain in the event description, "We simply want to provide a time and place where parents don't have to worry about a baby in a bar." Follow Studio 35 on Facebook for details on the next BYOB event.
