Parent Selects Advisory Board
In publishing, as in other industries, if you're not looking to get better, you risk becoming obsolete. So we've invited some of the community's brightest minds regarding children and family issues to help ensure that Columbus Parent is hitting every relevant note and meeting the expectations that you, the reader, have for this publication.
To that end, we're excited to announce the formation of theColumbus Parent Advisory Board. The new advisory board aims to forge stronger relationships with Central Ohio organizations that are vital to children and families, and to get input from key stakeholders and reader representatives about what we're doing and how we can do it better.
Our advisory board members are:
- Karen Days, president of The Center for Family Safety and Healing
- Darren Demaree, a poet and stay-at-home father
- Mikaela Hunt, a brand journalist and co-host of The Momcast
- Abby Kiracofe, manager of the children's division of Main Library, part of the Columbus Metropolitan Library system
- Julia McDevitt, a mother who works in executive management and IT/business consulting
- Azuka MuMin, senior vice president for engagement and impact at COSI
- Mark Real, a well-known child advocate and former president of KidsOhio.org
- Marcie Rehmar, director of community education at Nationwide Children's Hospital
- Jamie Williamson, head of school at Marburn Academy
We're excited to work with these smart, talented folks—many of whom are parents themselves—and to get their insights in the months ahead. We're grateful they agreed to aid us in our mission to continue providing the best content, advertising and digital offerings to local families.
The advisory board is only one of the initiatives we're undertaking to help strengthenColumbus Parent. Since the beginning of the year, we've tweaked the design for better readability, launched a new website, conducted a reader survey to get feedback on how you use the magazine and its content, launched an Instagram page and started new editorial and advertising initiatives.
