Peter and the Wolf
Peter, the Wolf and all their animal friends come to the McCoy Center in New Albany this weekend! They're the musical stars of that classic orchestral suite called Peter and the Wolf. Written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, it's considered one of the best ways to introduce kids to symphonic music - and the New Albany Symphony Orchestra, with a little help from narrator Jym Ganahl of NBC4-TV and young dancers from Columbus Dance Theatre, will be the musicians whose instruments play the roles of young Peter and animals.
There will first be a sensory-friendly performance this Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11:30 a.m. House lights will be dimmed, audience members can bring their own motivational and reinforcement items, and we are setting up "chill-out" zones. Admission price to this concert is just $6 and seating is first-come, first-served.
Then, there will be another, more traditional performance on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. Tickets for that show are reserved seating and prices range from $11 to $21.
To order tickets, you can call CAPA at 614-469-0939; go online to ticketmaster.com; in person at any Ticketmaster outlet; or at the McCoy Center one hour before either show.
The Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts is located at 100 E. Dublin-Granville Road in New Albany. For more information about the shows, go to www.newalbanysymphony.net.
