THE BACKSTORY: When we needed a cover model to accompany the Having a Baby theme in this issue, ThisWeek Community News senior advertising executive Ruthanne Alvarado agreed to let us feature her adorable infant daughter, Ruby. She's the second child of Ruthanne and her husband, Neil Alvarado, who also have a 19-month-old daughter, Lily. Ruby (who is wearing a headband sewn by grandmother Nubia Alvarado) seemed unfazed by her modeling gig. "She's a smiley little thing," Ruthanne said. "She likes when people interact with her." Ruby already enjoys music, books and, especially, interacting with big sis. "Her sister really makes her smile."
